GNT Coordinator (continued)
Responsibilities:
Once you accept this role, have the Unit Secretary submit your name to the ACBL. Read and become familiar with District 16 GNT Conditions of Contest and ACBL GNT Conditions of Contest.
Set up the Unit GNT qualification Game.
- Target time frame: February or March - before the District GNT game, which is typically in April. Obtain the date for the District GNT game from the District GNT Coordinator.
- Select a director six months ahead of the target time frame. The director should be an ACBL Director, preferably the one with the most experience.
- Meet with the director to determine the game date. Be mindful of possible competition conflicts, such as sectional and regional tournaments within a 300-mile radius.
- Obtain date approval from the Bridge Center of Austin (BCA) Club Manager (assumes the game will be at the BCA).
- Obtain date and director approval from the Unit President and Webmaster (Webmaster knows the Unit Calendar and can check for conflicts).
- When you have an approved date, fill out the sanction form on the ACBL website: Unit GNT Sanction Form.
- Coordinate entry price with the Unit Board President.
Promote/publicize the Unit GNT game
- Create a flyer/information sheet with game details and reasons to participate.
- Prepare and have the Unit Email Contact send 1-2 emails to all unit members promoting the game.
- Ask club managers to announce the game at the beginning of their club games. Club manager contact information can be found on the Unit website Unit Website - - click on “Clubs.”
- Ask club and unit webmasters to publish the game information on their websites.
- Send Unit qualification game plans to the District GNT Coordinator.
Encourage club managers to conduct club qualification games before the end of March. Refer them to the District and ACBL Conditions of Contest.
Answer questions from GNT participants and club managers.
After club and Unit qualification games, obtain lists of qualified players from the respective directors and make a list that includes names of all qualified players. Forward this list to club and Unit webmasters for publication on their websites. Forward the list to the District GNT Coordinator.
Notify the qualified players and encourage them to participate in the District competition. Copy the District GNT Coordinator on this message.
Recognize Unit team members who participated at the District competition as you see fit.
